Giant smart tablets on Baltimore streets offer 'portal to everything in the city'

Newsflash: Tall robots have invaded Baltimore — and it’s all good.

Five city street corners now boast 8-foot tall “interactive kiosk experience,” or Ike, touchscreen data stations that allow updates on weather, traffic, transit, addiction recovery treatment and even a selfie station.

“It’s an interactive portal to everything in the city, available to everyone in the city,” said Pete Scantland, CEO of Columbus, Ohio-based IKE Smart City, the company that created the portals.
