New York-style bodega Prime Corner to close in Hampden

Tess Russell moved back to her hometown of Baltimore and decided she missed the corner bodegas that dotted New York City’s neighborhoods.

So last summer she opened Prime Corner in the city’s funky Hampden neighborhood at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and 34th St. to offer everything from groceries to vegan sandwiches.

“I love the idea of someone who gets home late or forgets to make dinner, and can run over and grab stuff quickly,” Russell told the Baltimore Business Journal last June.
