L.A. drummer/MC/producer Techdizzle was featured recently on L.A. RECORD cover alum Brandon Coleman’s “Giant Feelings” single, but he’s got the kind of credits that could fill up the entire back of an LP. He’s toured with Kamasi Washington and Natalie Cole and studied under Leon “Ndugu” Chancler—the man who made the first few seconds of “Billie Jean” pop—and jazz giant Billy Higgins, and that’s not even counting his impressive roster of collaborations and performances. (OK, let’s count three: RZA, Whitney Houston, Charles Wright and the 103rd St. Watts Band.) On his coming solo debut All Or Nothin, he’s just as wide-ranging as you’d expect. All Or Nothin makes a long loop through several distinct genres and generations of L.A. music, but new single “Odyssey 05” must be its most blissfully smooth—probably even smoooooooth—moment. The legendarily accomplished multi-instrumentalist Terrace Martin is here to help Techdizzle land this perfectly produced track at the sweetest of sweet spots between AOR, soul and jazz fusion—it takes technique and talent to make something sound this effortless. All Or Nothin is out Fri., Nov. 16, on the Order Label—get it here!
